Your Club Needs You!
Dear MKVC Club Member
As you are aware Milton Keynes Volleyball
Club is run on a voluntary basis by other club members. However, age and
family commitments are having their toll on the availability of those
involved in assisting with the club. As such, the committee have approved
a decision to help other club members who would like to add their valuable
skills and resources in the day to day running of the club.
Everyone looks forward to playing matches
and improving their skills, however without referees and coaches the club
would not be able to support these simple activities. So the MKVC committee
hopes to persuade more of the club members to become qualified in these
skills by offering to assist* in the cost of club members attending EVA
organised courses to gain the necessary 'qualifications' and enhance their
knowledge and skills. All that the committee ask in return is that you
help out by using these skills to support the club by either officiating
at local league matches or helping out during club sessions.
For refereeing, the club would normally try
to provide another 'experienced' club member to help you during your first
matches as referee and the coaching coordinator would assist in defining
activities for a club session. If nothing else, it would mean a break
from Andreas or Derek telling you what to do at a coaching sessions!
If you are interested in taking up this offer
and becoming qualified as a referee or a coach, speak to one of the committee
members who will be able to provide you with further information...
...Nigel Collins, Anita Hollins, Wendy Smith,
Derek Simmonite, Andreas Whitley or Sue Pangbourne.
Thanks,
Andreas, Coaching Coordinator, MKVC
(* Note that the amount of assistance has
yet to be finalised and may vary depending on the level of interest shown.)

Rule Changes
Be aware of a rule change that
is being implemented this season by the FIVB and EVA. It concerns the
"simultaneous contact" above the net (i.e. the held ball when
2 people 'block' the same ball). In the past this should have been called
as a let and the rally restarted. The new rule says that the game just
carries on.
