MK show what they're made of
It was a very early start for the MK team this weekend, having to be down in Southampton for a 10am start versus the home team Solent. This showed in the first set as MK started very slowly, as Solent took a commanding lead. MK started to pull their socks up, realising that Solent were a well organised side and more than capable to taking the match. The set ended up 25-19 to Solent, but MK seemed to have the momentum going into the rest of the match.

This proved to be the case, as MK started to take charge, albeit in a very closely fought affair. The second set went the way of MK to tie the match 1-1, with a 17-25 set score. The 6 on court remained unchanged through the rest of the match as changes may have tipped the balance, and despite a minor hiccup in the 4th set, MK came through 1-3 winners after taking the final 2 sets 18-25 and 22-25.

It was a good performance against a very capable Solent team to take MK's 2nd victory of the season. MK certainly look like they're a team on the up, full of confidence. The 2nd game was going to be a tough match against the team leading the division without having dropped a single set...until today!

MK had had a good battle with Reading in their last meeting just a few weeks ago and were hoping to do the same, if not better. MK's defence was outstanding, picking up whatever Reading hit at them...and they had very strong hitters. MK's fight was incredible, as every ball was chased down, not letting Reading away with anything. Even though Reading took the first two sets 18-25, it was clear that MK were wearing Reading down a little. The 3rd set was monumental, and all the hard work started to pay off, as MK lead the set from start to finish to take it 25-20, which was Reading's first set loss in the whole season so far.

Reading took the 4th set 20-25 to win the match 1-3, but it was clear that Reading knew that they'd had a tough game. This was something that MK can be proud of and bodes well going into the New Year. MK's next game isn't until 21st January, but there is plenty to work on in training between now and then.

Next match(es): MK's next matches are against Guildford and Plymouth on 21st January in Guildford.

Team: Matt Almond, Simon Barton, Colin Brown, Nigel Collins, Dave Goddard, Andris Rackis, Scott Robson, Nishi Saran, Kevin Smith and Andreas Whitley
